
What better individual to investigate scenarios involving healthcare facility and equipment issues than the Director of Facilities Operations at New York-Presbyterian Hospital? For the past 18 years, Louis has worked in a variety of capacities for the New York City hospital, most recently overseeing day-to-day operations of all facilities including the Central Plant, HVAC, plumbing, electric and general construction.
During his tenure at Presbyterian, Dr. Wetstein also has been directly in charge of major projects such as the installation of a 2-megawatt backup generator, and the installation and upgrade of medical air and medical vacuum systems. In other capacities he’s been directly involved in the installation of specialized equipment like fetal monitoring systems, bedside monitors with central stations, laboratory analyzers and X-ray equipment. He’s also acquired applicable knowledge in computer interfaces with equipment as well as technical troubleshooting.
Dr. Wetstein is a P.E. in New York, and he is a certified Biomedical Equipment Technician. His two Master’s degrees and his doctoral degree are all from Columbia University.
