Lori worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nearly nine years as a forensic chemist in two different departments. After beginning her career with National Environmental Testing, she moved on to the Massachusetts Department of Health. At NET she analyzed water, soil, and sludge samples for the presence of metals.

In the Drug Identification Laboratory for MDPH, she analyzed unknown materials to determine the presence of controlled substances. She then moved on to the Massachusetts Department of State Police Crime Laboratory where she gained experience in the drug identification, evidence control, criminalistics, and serology units. Through her tasks she became experienced with the forensic analysis of many crimes and crime scenes, including blood splatter, sexual assault, shootings, stabbings, beatings, strangulations, arson, and drugs. She was an expert witness for the Commonwealth for five years.

Lori is experienced with the operation of a variety of pieces of analytical equipment, such as the Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer, and the infrared spectrophotometer to name a few. She’s received additional training from organizations like the Miami-Dade Police Department, Hewlett-Packard Instruments and the FBI. She’s a member of the Northeastern Association of Forensic Chemists.
