Bruce P. Patten, P.E.
50 Mall Road, Burlington, MA, 01803 (800) 813-1753
Bruce has developed an attachment to electrical power after spending nearly 40 years working for the Peabody Municipal Light Plant. His last 22 years with the company were spent as General Manager, after having worked in the trenches as an electrical engineer prior to his management service. From electrocutions to electrical troubleshooting, and from overhead, underground and substation electrical design and construction to electrical fires, Bruce has seen it all in this industry.
Two significant projects in which Bruce was in charge while GM, were the installation of the nation’s first direct tap from an interstate natural gas pipeline into an electric generating facility; and the acquisition and installation of a 48-megawatt gas turbine generator. He designed and supervised construction of the company’s 115,000 volt substations, and he’s testified before the Federal Power Commission (now known as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission). His troubleshooting experience in the industry is unparalleled.
Bruce is a P.E. in Massachusetts, and during his utility career he was actively involved in trade organizations such as the Northeast Public Power Association and the Municipal Electric Association of Massachusetts and served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (a Generation and Transmission agency).
