What better individual to investigate scenarios involving healthcare facilities and equipment than the Director of Facilities Operations at one of the largest academic medical centers in the country? For the past 18 years, Louis has worked in a variety of capacities for the New York City hospital, most recently overseeing day-to-day operations of all facilities including the utility plant, HVAC, plumbing, electric and general construction departments.

During his tenure, Dr. Wetstein has also been directly in charge of infrastructure projects such as the installation and commissioning of emergency generators, medical air and vacuum systems as well as heating and cooling equipment. In other capacities he’s been directly involved in the installation of specialized equipment like fetal monitoring systems, bedside monitors with central stations, laboratory analyzers and X-ray equipment. He’s also acquired applicable knowledge in computer interfaces along with component-level technical troubleshooting.

Dr. Wetstein is a P.E. in New York, a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician and an Authorized OSHA Outreach Safety Trainer. His two Master’s and Doctoral engineering degrees are all from Columbia University.
