Harold Ehrlich
Industrial Safety Expert, Industrial Engineer

Harry has worked as an Industrial Engineer since 1978. He has held positions of increasing responsibility within industry and has been responsible for the design and manufacture of consumer products, as well as commercial and industrial equipment. Harry has had extensive experience in the area of compliance with safety standards. He has worked closely with Underwriters Laboratories, Canadian Standards Association, as well as overseas safety agencies. Harry has been responsible for product development, product testing and Quality Control. Harry has a background in Human Factors and has worked in the development of warnings and safety instructions.

As an Industrial Engineer, Harry’s manufacturing activities have required him to concentrate on factory floor safety. Harry has a broad background in machine guarding, industrial safeguards, personal protective equipment, training and supervision. Harry has carried out his responsibilities for industrial safety as directed by OSHA regulations.

Harry is a member of The American Society for Testing and Materials, where he sits on the F15.22 Subcommittee on Toy Safety and actively participates in the Standard Consumer Safety Specification on Toy Safety, An American National Standard.

The widely circulated publication Popular Woodworking has recently published an article by Harry on workshop safety.

      A five year old boy was injured by a carousel conveyor in a retail store. He was at the store with his parents when he placed one of his toys on top of a moving conveyor display. His toy fell from the moving conveyor to the floor. The boy bent down to pick up the toy and as he stood up, he raised his hand and it become entrapped and injured within the unguarded moving parts of the conveyor.
