Kirk is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator with more than 25 years experience in fire service. His expertise includes origin and cause investigations; fire protection systems; building construction; and fire, life safety, and building code enforcement. He has specialized expertise in fire department policies and procedures.

Kirk’s roles in fire service have included serving as Deputy Fire Marshall, Fire and Life Safety Education Coordinator, and Lead Fire Investigator. He has worked for both local municipalities and the military, serving in the U.S. Army Reserve and the U.S. Air National Guard as a Crash Fire Rescue Specialist. He holds numerous certifications and is a member of many professional associations, including the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the International Code Council (ICC).
