Winter Sports Safety Expert

Rick’s expertise is centered on training, coaching and safety practices in Alpine skiing and snowboarding, while also possessing experience in winter sports facility management.

He has been involved in a variety of positions with the Mammoth Mountain Ski and Snowboard team for 25 years. During this time he’s done just about everything imaginable in these sports, from training and coaching athletes, to developing events and coordinating travel. As a member of the safety committee, he examined sensitive ski areas to create safety policies for both employees and guests. He’s researched snow machinery movement, skier traffic patterns, lift operating procedures and a number of other areas that resulted in the development and implementation of safety training plans.

Rick has earned a number of ski coaching and teaching certifications from the United States Ski Association, and he has been a member of that organization for more than 20 years.
