Marine

A marine engineer, with an advanced license, is responsible for all facets of marine construction; from design through testing and operation.  This includes welding procedures, piping design and installation, cableways, and all systems on board a modern vessel.  Additionally, the marine engineer is responsible for the electrical plant, the safe operation of cargo equipment, fuel and oil transfers.

In the context of shipyards, the marine engineer is responsible for planning and executing the repair or construction project and must be well versed in all areas of shipyard management, including negotiating the final bill.
