Arthur has been a visiting professor at the United States Merchant Marine Academy for the past 18 years. He’s also been in private practice for the past ten years as a consultant and Port Ship Engineer. These, combined with other positions, have given Arthur insight into nuclear, methane, diesel and gas turbine power plants.

Areas of instruction for Arthur at the USMMA include vibration training for nuclear power plants, shipboard propulsion systems, rotating machinery and HVAC systems. As a consultant he’s worked directly with the nuclear industry for safe operation of standby generators for shaft alignment, vibration problems, and root cause analysis. He also has performed troubleshooting on large centrifugal machines for environmental cleanup in South America.

Arthur’s professional credentials include Chief Engineer status for Unlimited Horsepower-Motor, Third Assistant Engineer, and Unlimited-Steam 8th Issue.
