Dr. Laura Miele is an expert in sports and recreation with specific expertise in sports psychology and injury prevention. She is an accomplished athlete as well as an experienced trainer, coach and teacher.
Laura played Division I basketball at Arizona State; was Tight End for the Arizona Caliente, of the Women’s Professional Football League; and was also a New York Golden Gloves semi-finalist. She began coaching athletes in 1986 and has been involved as a personal exercise and fitness trainer since 1994. Laura has travelled extensively throughout the United States and Europe as an athlete and coach and has been involved in a wide range of sports including Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, Football, Archery, Bowling, Figure Skating, Hockey, Boxing, Wrestling, Field Sports, Golf, Lacrosse, Field Hockey, Soccer, Gymnastics and Tennis.
Laura holds a Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology, a Masters in Education, and an undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology and Physical Education. She currently teaches high school health and physical education in Philadelphia, is part of the adjunct faculty at Ohio University for the Sport and Recreation Pedagogical Department, and continues to provide personal training and consultation in a variety of training methods, sports, and psychological necessities. Laura is a member of the ASTM Committee on Sports Equipment and Facilities, the American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPHERD), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), the North American Society for psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPA), the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and the American Psychological Association.
