Aleta Dyling is an Automotive Engineer and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) expert with more than 20 years of experience working for automotive manufacturers both at the OEM and Tier 1 supplier levels. Aleta specializes in the development, testing, validation, and integration of ADAS systems, which work to prevent or mitigate the severity of passenger vehicle collisions. She applies her expertise to forensic investigations involving vehicle crashworthiness and the performance of active safety systems in passenger vehicles, light trucks, and commercial vehicles.
Aleta spent the bulk of her career at General Motors, leading the testing and performance validation of ADAS systems. Aleta has direct development experience with ADAS systems such as Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and other autonomous vehicle systems that incorporate cameras, radar, LiDAR, and other sensors. She also was a crash performance engineer involved in the design and validation for crashworthiness. Aleta is well versed in FMVSS, ISO, and industry standards and regulations, both domestic and international, that apply to vehicle safety systems.
Aleta earned her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Transportation Related Trauma from Wayne State University. She has held credentials as a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician with SafeKids Worldwide. Aleta is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation. She has been published numerous times in the Stapp Car Crash Journal.
