Dr. Melodie Metzger is an expert in biomechanical engineering. She provides investigations, reports, and testimony toward the resolution of disputes and litigation involving traumatic injuries involving medical implants and devices, motor vehicle crashes, premises liability, in addition to workplace and sports injuries.
Over the past 14 years, Dr. Metzger has focused her research on understanding the mechanical and structural aspects of orthopaedic reconstructive surgeries. Dr. Metzger has been the director of the Orthopaedic Biomechanics laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for over 8 years. In this role, she is the lead on all aspects of study development from design to the dissemination of results. Dr. Metzger’s lab has performed numerous detailed biomechanical analyses of the spine, knee, shoulder, foot and ankle.
Dr. Metzger received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of California at San Francisco. She has been published in the Journal of Biomechanics, Spine, the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Journal of Orthopaedic Research, and has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences.
