Peter Ford is a licensed electrical engineer with more than a decade of professional experience in design, management, and consulting. He applies his expertise to forensic casework involving electrical shock injuries, electrocutions, electrical fires, power loss related damages, safe work practices, lighting, and other disputes that involve electrical products and systems.
A significant portion of Peter’s career was spent working as an electrical design consultant for utilities, architecture firms, civil engineering firms, and state/local entities. Peter is well versed in power substations, municipal water and sewage systems, back-up power systems, fire alarm systems, access control systems, lighting systems, new building construction and building renovations. In addition to designing electrical systems, Peter served as a project manager and was responsible for on-site auditing and approval of completed work. He verified that contractors work followed the design intent, complied with the design specifications, met quality standards, and complied with National Electrical Code NFPA 70 as well as all state and local regulations.
Working in Louisiana where extreme weather events are prevalent, Peter has amassed a great deal of experience in the implementation of backup power systems for institutions such as schools and hospitals, as well as residential and commercial properties. He has also conducted emergency restoration of power to facilities following damage sustained during extreme weather events. Peter’s experience with backup power systems makes him extremely qualified to investigate and determine what caused an unexpected loss of power and whether reasonable measures were in place to mitigate the damage caused by an unexpected power loss.
Peter earned both his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University, and he is licensed as a Professional Engineer in multiple states. He has been published in Journal of Electrical Engineering. Peter served in the United States Air Force for two years and is also an Eagle Scout. Peter is active in his community and serves on his city’s Finance Committee and Alcoholic Beverage Control Committee.
