Ammonia Refrigerant Hazards Webinar Series

This webinar will provide a primer on R-717 ammonia refrigeration systems that are common in industrial facilities and on commercial vessels. There will be a discussion of the benefits and risks of using ammonia as a refrigerant, and the standard of care for system and facility operators.

Experts from our Mechanical and Marine Engineering practices, who have both operated ammonia and conventional refrigeration systems, will explain the basic concepts of refrigeration systems and the relative safety profile of ammonia as it compares to conventional refrigeration systems. Our experts will revisit a case example to highlight the safety breakdowns that resulted in a dangerous release of ammonia gas.
